Change your default browser

Microsoft Windows uses the default Web browser setting when you click links in a document or on a Web page. Windows uses Microsoft Internet Explorer by default, but you can change to a different browser if you want to.

To change from Internet Explorer to another browser, do one of the following:

  • If you haven't installed another browser, do that first. During installation, most browsers display a message asking if you want to use that browser as the default browser.

  • If the browser that you want to use is already installed, open it. You should see a message asking if you want to use that browser as the default browser. If you don't see the message, use the following instructions, but choose the browser that you want to use instead of Internet Explorer.

To make Internet Explorer your default Web browser

  1. Open Internet Explorer. (Click Start, and then click Internet Explorer. If you don't see Internet Explorer on the Start menu, point to All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.)

    • If a message appears asking if you want Internet Explorer to be your default browser, click Yes.

    • If a message does not appear, go to Step 2.

  2. On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Set Program Access and Defaults.

Note :-The Set Program Access and Defaults option is available only in Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

  3. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Custom, and then click the arrow to the right.

  4. Under Choose a default Web browser, click Internet Explorer, and then click OK.

Tip:- If you have more than one Web browser installed, you can hide links to those browsers from the Start menu, the Windows taskbar, and your desktop by clearing the Enable access to this program check box.

Not able to send attachments - Virus error

This solution article provides information to users who are unable to send attachments in Windows Live Hotmail and are receiving a virus error. Large email attachments may cause the mail download to 'hang' or cause the message to get 'stuck' in the Outbox and result in an undeliverable message. A virus such as Happy99 may also prohibit you from sending email attachments

Symptoms:
Users might get an error stating that the file cannot be attached as it appears to be unsafe.

What does the error mean?
Hotmail helps protect your computer from virus attacks by scanning the attachments for virus in your incoming and outgoing e-mail messages.

When you try to attach a file to a Hotmail e-mail message, Hotmail automatically scans the file for viruses. If a virus is found, you cannot attach the infected file until the virus is removed.

What should you do?
If you are attaching a virus-free file and receiving a false virus notification, please check for the following:

1. Type of file (example: exe, pdf, doc etc). Please make sure that you are not trying to attach a file that is blocked by Hotmail.

2. Size of the attachment. Please note that if you have a Free account – you are only allowed to attach a file of size 10 MB per email message and if you have a paid account, then the limit is 20 MB.

In this case how to do something to resolution. If you plan to troubleshoot E-mails problems, it is a good idea to keep backup of all E-mail records and it's information.

In case of outlook backup you should take .PST (personal folder) backup. And in case of Outlook Express you should take .dbx fils backup. Both situation you should take address book back up as well. As far as E-mail settings you should not down your Incoming Mail Server or POP3 - each Internet service is different, so you will want to contact them for this information. Another thing that happens with SMTP servers is sometimes it will reject your request if you haven't checked your incoming email in a certain amount of time. If you're still facing this problems, delete the email, reboot your machine, and try to resend it again.

some time you are receiving emails, but nothing is coming your Inbox. What should you do? This happens more often with the dial-up Internet connection and most likely due to an email that's is too large in size. Either you can call your ISP to delete that email or log into your web mail server to delete it by yourself. Remember this happens also that it may cause your connection with the POP3 server settings, you
